Room 505 was well-appointed and comfortable, offering a decent size for a short stay, though facing the high street led to some noise disturbances. Room 102 was gratifying in comfort, but the lack of air conditioning was disappointing during warmer nights. The breakfast experience was highlighted by its delicious offerings, with prime steaks as a standout.

I had a lovely stay at The George. The hotel has a charming old-world vibe, which I really appreciated. My room was spacious with a comfy bed and a nice shower. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast. it had a great variety and everything tasted fresh. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making sure I had everything I needed. there were a few hiccups. The parking information wasn't very clear, which left me searching for a spot initially. I had minor cleanliness issues in the bathroom. I noticed a few stray hairs which should have been cleaned up. On my last morning, I had a surprise when I returned to my room and found the cleaner had assumed I checked out early and stripped the bed. While she was apologetic, it left me feeling rushed. Some better communication about room occupancy might help prevent that in the future.

The hotel had a fantastic location with convenient parking and a lovely courtyard vibe. My favorite was the charming decor with historical touches. I really enjoyed the perfectly cooked fish dish at the restaurant, too!

The hotel was a perfect spot for our family getaway with our three dogs! The location on High Street was a big plus, and we had a blast at the Colchester Golf Club, which made our stay even more enjoyable.

In my wife’s opinion, a designated dog walking area would have been great for families with pets.
